In 1921 population of India was 251 million and in 1951 it was 361 million (http://www.preservearticles.com/2012013022130/sample-essay-on-growth-of-population-in-india.html). The industrialized pesticides and chemical fertilizers did not exist at that time. The sown area around that time was 141 million hectares (agricoop.nic.in/SIA111213312.pdf). The sown area of USA is currently 2.4 billion hectares (http://one-simple-idea.com/Environment1.htm). If India could sustain the 300 million population and grow up to a billion then what is the need for Genetically Modified seeds to withstand pesticides in USA? Why would there be a need of anything but organic farming in USA?
