Orange Jumpsuits for the No on 37 Campaign?

jumpsuit.jpgIt's no joke what the opposition is up to. We don't mind a fair fight, or even a Dave vs Goliath fight, but the dark forces against our right to know will do anything to try to stop us from winning a simple label -- even risking crossing the line of the law.

It's just not right. That's why we reported their latest dirty trick to the US Department of Justice. The pesticide-industry campaign has already been caught misrepresenting Stanford University (three times), misleading voters in the state voter guide (says the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics), and bombarding the airwaves with misleading ads (according to newspaper fact checkers).

But their latest trick is more serious than all of that...

As our letter to the Dept. of Justice reveals, the No on 37 campaign affixed the official US FDA seal to their campaign propaganda, and even went so far as attributing a fabricated quote to FDA -- making it appear as though FDA has taken a position against Prop 37, which of course they aren't allowed to do.

FDA_stamp.png

Section 506 of the U.S. Criminal Code states: “Whoever….knowingly uses, affixes, or impresses any such fraudulently made, forged, counterfeited, mutilated, or altered seal or facsimile thereof to or upon any certificate, instrument, commission, document, or paper of any description….shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.”

What won't the pesticide industry and their gang of tricksters do to try to convince us we don't have a right to know what's in our food?

We still believe in the institutions of justice in this country. And we wholeheartedly believe that the people's movement for our right to know what's in our food will prevail against the pesticide industry bag of dirty tricks.

Help us set the record straight. Help us shine our light into the darkness of pesticide industry propaganda. SHARE THIS STORY with all your friends and DONATE TODAY to a victory for the people in November!

That is the precise blog for anybody who needs to search out out about this topic. You realize a lot its almost arduous to argue with you (not that I actually would need…HaHa). Global audience is your advantages. http://www.lifeinsurancerates.com/

Maxwell—I am sorry, I just read your note here.

I, like you, am also busy. I take the voting privilege very seriously.

I don’t work for prop 37, but I do support it due to a shameful absence of independent medical studies on long term safety of these novel foods.

May I suggest that in the future you take your time and study the issues seriously in order to make your vote count as a thoughtful vote. There is a lot of deception and misinformation being bought by the No-on prop 37 as well as other California ballot initiatives. So unfortunately on this one, your vote is cast against the citizens’ best interests and for the single-minded profit motives of very old and powerful corporations. There is nothing more frustrating than the realization that an educated vote and a misinformed one count the same, so please do your due diligence….educate yourself and research your future positions.

Warm regards and good luck in college.

Thanks for your comments, Max.

I am hoping and praying that California will do the right by supporting Proposition 37.

I try to remind myself that every crisis presents an opportunity—and so it is and will be with GMOs.

Ena,

To be honest I have been swamped in school and I didn’t get to see yer post until today. And I responded to you with email. But then I read the post by J Grey.

I am not a conspiracy thery guy. I am in the first year of college and voting for the first time. IDK who to vote for. Romney and Obama both make sense. Compared to other country’s dictators, I think we are deciding between two boy scouts.

But what about 37? Wut u say makes sense and so does J Grey. But like i wrote, $400 + the FB lie and i am so not down with the corporate lies. So IDK about conspiracies. But then u link me to a study to show the $400 cost is wrong. I dunno. But I just got bored. Giants game not on TV yet. So I looked at the link. I am not going to lie, I didnt actually read it all.

But you asked a lawyer (?!) from Georgia (?!) to review the costs of 37?! WTF? Are you trying to trick me like the FB guy?

If you wanted to know about the cost of 37, why didnt u hire an economy guy in California? And why does the lawyer post the report on a biased website? Yes, I looked at that website that you tried to bury in the URL. It is not even close to a neutral site.

So I already voted by mail and I am sorry if I blew it. But looking back, I think I did the right thing. Your corporate tricksters created a fake FB page, typed up a bs report by a lawyer at a Georgia University and post it on a biased website.

I think I voted right.

Wut do u think? I mean serious. Like do u rly think I wasted my vote? It is my first time and I dont like the lies already. And I think u r not working for 37. I think u r a real person. So what is rly so important abt 37 that I should believe their corp lies and support it?

Dear J Grey,

Thanks for the info. I guess I blew it bc I voted No by mail.

To be honest, I cannot afford $400 a year. And I found the No 37 FB page at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/No-on-prop-37-is-a-SCAM/521101277904799?ref=ts&fref=ts

I figure if the corporate machine needs 37 so much that they would intentionally lie about it, I cannot support the corporate lies. Honest, dude. Check out that FB page. The company that posted it actually cops to it and admits they lied to trick us voters into voting for 37.

So I voted against. Simple as that. $400 + lies = No Vote for Maxy

Dear Maxwell:

You are asking all the wrong questions!!!

Much more than even jobs or prices—Will GMOS destroy lives? Will GMOS create illness, allergies, disease? Will GMOs and their production harm our land? Will GMOs and their production harm our rivers, streams, lakes, oceans?

Maxwell. There is no reason to believe in price increases, unless you fall for the propaganda. The $400 figure comes from a NO-on-37 paid study. Independently funded studies show cost increases to be NEGLIGIBLE : http://www.anh-usa.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/GE-Food-Act-Costs-Assessment.pdf

OK, this is politics and I expect there to be trickery etc. But orange jump suits? C’mon. IDK what the Yes and No sides did to who. What I need to know is: will 37 change the price of my groceries? Will it create or destroy jobs. I know our grocery bills will go up by $400 per year if 37 passes but what will 37 do to our unemployment rate? Anyone know? And I do not mean I want a bunch of Yes on This or No on That. Will it create or destroy jobs?

Since the only anti-37 ads I’ve seen have criticized the proposition as written – saying it is flawed – why aren’t we showing in huge letters that it is NOT FLAWED?! I have to admit that, much as I hate GMO, I also don’t like flawed laws. Buried deep in one pro-37 email I saw information defending the proposition, but the average voter out there is only seeing how flawed it (supposedly) is, and with no defense to that point, will probably vote no.

This is excellent. All of the writers at the media outlets who are exposing the No on 37 lies should be thanked and asked to continue and increase their efforts to keep exposing those lies. Let them and their editors know we appreciate it and that they are doing the right thing. Write!
